America’s
Young Gentlemen Mentoring Program was designed in 2005 to provide
developmental strategies for young men from 5th to 12th grade;
the program has 45 intense training activities including Martial
Arts, all of which work in harmony to develop the core skills
needed to advance our mentees determination and abilities to succeed
in their overall development.
AYGMP has incorporated some of the proven learning activities
used by Mr. Sherman Rutledge Jr. over the past 30 years, the developmental
strategies work to strengthen all aspects of our young men’s
mental, social and physical development as they transition into
their next journey in life. The training material is the result
of Mr. Rutledge’s successful and miraculous recover as a
firefighter who was electrocuted by 193,000 volts as a young firefighter
and survived ones worst nightmare.
Young men who become mentees in AYGMP will be provided with 3
hours of intense training each week, they will also receive two
sessions on two separate days of on-line training in which they
are expected to complete the on-line training and submit their
results to Mr. Rutledge. If a mentee doesn't’t have a home
computer alternative methods will be provided for the mentee to
complete their assignment.
The intense demands on our students today to succeed academically
in our highly technical world will only get tougher each year.
It must be identified and accepted by each mentee that their academic
success is dependent upon their determination and discipline to
accept the challenges, AYGMP introduces new and innovative methods
to helping our young men succeed, it is our mission to introduce
developmental strategies that reshape the method in which our
mentees view and accept their inherent gifts, talents and intelligence.
AYGMP has a development period for our mentees which is 16 weeks;
this period is designed to provide our mentees with an intense
training period, one which introduces self-regulated study to
help our mentees understand they will succeed in life by taking
the personal initiative and finding ways to overcome life’s
challenges. After the first 16 weeks our mentees can remain in
the AYGMP till they graduate from high school.
Because of the intense developmental initiatives built into AYGMP
and the Martial Arts training, a cost per month to become a member
of America’s Young Gentlemen Mentoring Program has been
set at $50.00; this cost pays for all the printed material, special
on-line training, Martial Arts training equipment and time spent
by Mr. Sherman Rutledge Jr. working with his mentees not only
during scheduled training hours, but as needed by his mentees
in their development.
